about
So one of my best friends went through a crippling break up a week or two ago, and I really want to write a song for her about it all. Basically it's about distance tearing apart a couple who could've gotten married. But one of them, the one who feels hurt, can't hate the other because they love them too much.
This is the first song that I haven't written about books since about October 2013.
lyrics
I wish
That I had seen it
Coming
I wish
That we had made it
Through the storm
I wish
That you were stronger
For longer
I wish
That you weren’t the best part
Of me
And it’s hard to eat
hard to sleep
Knowing that you’re not beside me
And it’s hard to take
But it’s the only way
For me to know who I am
Without your presence
You said
That you can’t take it
The distance in between
So I said
Here’s my heart go break it
And throw it out for me
And it’s hard to eat
hard to sleep
Knowing that you’re not beside me
And it’s hard to take
But it’s the only way
For me to know who I am
Without your presence
But I’m not angry
How could I be
You were my baby
My everything
And now I see
Where I went wrong
I put you first
Like a new hit song
I wish
That things were different
So different
I wish
That I could hate you
But God I can’t
And it’s hard to eat
hard to sleep
Knowing that you’re not beside me
And it’s hard to take
But it’s the only way
For me to know who I am
Without your presence
